FMFC International Training Programme

(Innovative Farmers, Traditional Medicines, Healthy Foods, Cosmetics)

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) is committed to establishing itself as a premier regional hub for research and innovation, centrally driven by the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model. To achieve this vision, the FMFC International Training Programme was initiated to facilitate the transition of advanced academic research into practical, real-world applications.

Equipped with world-class facilities—including the Medicinal Plants Innovation Center (certified with ISO/IEC 17025 and GMP-PIC/S standards), the Cosmetic Pilot Plant (ISO/IEC 17025 and ASEAN GMP standards), and the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research, alongside strategic plans to establish a Future Food manufacturing facility—the university aims to foster robust collaborative networks between academics and entrepreneurs across ASEAN, accelerating the region's transition from traditional agriculture to a sustainable, high-value industry.

Objectives

  1. To upskill and reskill professionals in Southeast Asia, enhancing their practical knowledge in research, innovation, and business development within the bio-industry under the FMFC (Innovative Farmers, Traditional Medicines, Healthy Foods, Cosmetics) framework.
  2. To promote synergistic cooperation and networking among universities, research institutions, and the private sector throughout the ASEAN region.
  3. To strengthen human resource capacity in alignment with the BCG Economy model, thereby ensuring health security and fostering sustainable economic growth.
  4. To accelerate technology transfer and "Knowledge Translation" (bridging the gap from research shelves to the commercial market), ultimately creating viable international market opportunities.

The programme comprises six intensive training modules designed to enhance capacity building, knowledge transfer, and innovation in key areas including:

  1. Integrating the Healthy Foods Value Chain: from Local to Functional Claim (1 - 15 July)
  2. Smart Roots for ASEAN Future: From Traditional Wisdom to Innovative Agri-Preneur (6 - 12 July)
  3. Hands-On Mastery in Cosmetics (7 - 20 July)
  4. Herbal Processing, Extraction, and GMP/PIC/S-Compliant Product Manufacturing Programme (13 - 19 July)
  5. Mushrooms from wild to table (18 - 24 July)
  6. Herbal Bioactive Compound Analysis and Applied Product Development Programme (20 - 26 July)

These training sessions are scheduled to be conducted throughout July 2026, offering a series of hands-on, immersive learning experiences for international participants. Each course will be delivered in a workshop-based format combining lectures, laboratory practice, field visits, and industry-relevant applications.

This initiative highlights Mae Fah Luang University’s proactive role in leveraging research excellence to address global challenges, enhance human capital, and create tangible societal impact through international collaboration.
